Pushback Racks
In pushback storage systems the pallets are placed on rolling
carts, which slide from front to rear in the rack. The new pallet is loaded
into the rack from the aisle side of the rack, and other pallets are pushed to
the rear to make space. With this system your standard lift truck can be used.
Pushback systems provide a cost effective alternative when "last-in/first-out"
inventory rotation is used. Pallets are typically stored two to six
pallets deep. This provides more storage space with fewer aisles. Pushback
allows greater selectivity than drive-in racks and excellent utilization of
storage positions.

Advantages of Pushback Storage Systems
-
Greater capacity-warehouse capacity may be increased up to 75%
-
Greater selectivity-three or four times the selectivity of drive-in racks
-
Faster access to pallets-pallets are placed and retrieved directly from the
aisle
-
No specialized lift truck required
-
Pushback systems may be retrofitted into existing drive-in or selective racks.
